Amarone is an Italian blend of Corvina, Rondinella, other grape varieties. The wine grapes are partially dried in a process called appassimento before pressing. This concentrates the sugars and flavours in the juice, resulting in a very bold and flavourful red wine.
This wine features notes of black fig, black cherry, and chocolate.
Italy is home to some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. It is also the largest producer of wine, with almost 2 million acres under vineyard cultivation. Italy’s varied terrain provides many different climate and soil conditions for grape growing, which means that a large diversity of grape varietals can be grown there.
We recommend pairing Amarone with heavy Italian dishes like lasagna and risotto. It’s also great with steaks, burgers, roast beef, and duck. Amarone is an excellent cooking wine, especially for braising meat.
