These rich, full-flavoured reds improve with 3-12 months of bottle ageing, developing structure and depth over time. Whether from the Old World or the New, these wines are known for their complexity and layered profiles. Some are riper and fruitier, while others offer a more savoury, tannic character.

Young wines may feature bold spicy and sweet oak notes, but as they mature, the oak melds with the fruit and tannins, allowing tertiary aromas to emerge and further enhance the wine’s complexity.

Many of these wines are perfect for cellaring and pair beautifully with intensely flavoured dishes such as red meats, aged cheeses, sausages, and hearty mushroom-based meals.
